Swell is an online volunteer network for business professionals willing to leverage their time and talents to change the world.
Swell is the brainchild of the non-profit organization, Executives Without Borders (ExecWB). ExecWB was sparked out of an executive business program at Harvard, when students realized the majority of classmates we’re going onto corporate professions, but were seeking opportunities to use their skills to tackle poverty.
Swell combines the strength and skills of our Elite Volunteer Network with the most-effective Non-Profit Organizations around the world. Swell’s Program Managers work alongside the volunteers and non- profits, coordinating programs and providing the highest-level of support and project management.
Our volunteers come from a diverse and successful pool of professional backgrounds. As an invite-only network, Swell maintains a high-level of corporate and academic clientele. These dedicated individuals have the knowledge and networks to add timely and valuable advice to non-profit organizations.
Each quarter, Executives Without Borders awards an exemplary group of non-profit organizations access into the Swell network. Because Executives Without Borders is looking for the most-effective organizations in the world, selection is highly competitive. Criteria for non-profit selection is based on a series of factors, and is generally awarded by track-record, opportunity to scale, and quality of services.

Non-profit organizations post their short-term needs and questions into the online platform, triggering instant access to some of the world’s top minds. They can inquire about anything: from advice on streamlining their supply chain in Chicago, building their board in Brooklyn, or how to tweet in Timbuktu. Our diverse networks of business professionals’ are matched appropriately to meet the non-profits specific needs. Our volunteers have the resources and knowledge to rapidly increase non-profit efficiencies, so organizations can continue their focus on quality programs.
Deep Dive grants enable non-profits to tackle an in-depth issue requiring attention and financing. ExecWB’s Project Management team works closely with the non-profit to identify the need and handpick a core team of expert volunteers. Deep Dives’ require time and attention, and volunteers and ExecWB staff generally travel to the non-profits’ office to provide high-touch support. ExecWB covers the costs of the professionals’ travel and expenses, enabling the non-profit to receive the highest level of pro bono service.
